The balcony renovation has now passed the noisiest phases, such as chipping and blasting. On Monday, the casting of the first stage of balconies will begin. In connection with this, a primer will be used which may cause a slight petrol-like smell.
Extensive repairs of the beams are now being carried out on most of the balconies. The positive news is that none of the beams need to be replaced, which would have required significantly more extensive work.
However, the scale of the repairs, together with a strong additional recommendation from the structural engineer to add a waterproofing layer on the balconies facing Flottbrovägen, means that the project will be extended by approximately three weeks, until the end of February.
The damages currently being repaired were difficult to foresee in full. As a result, additional costs have been added to the project for these repairs as well as for the recommended waterproofing. These costs are not substantial and would have been considerably higher if beam replacements had been necessary.
